e-Tax Software Update - n04 released

Finally the pressure is starting to ease off and much of the uncertainty surrounding the application of the 8% adjustment has been cleared. With assistance from Charles Orbach & Company, we received confirmation from Gary Edwards (Manager for Personal Income Tax in the SARS Legal & Policy team) that the "percentage increase" calculation is correct in e-Tax when the following Control settings are enabled:
  • Apply ProvTax 8% increase per Note A.4 = must be ticked
  • Apply ProvTax 8% increase to end of Year = must be ticked
SARS finally authorised the live pilot testing of the IRP6 Return submissions via the new e-Filing interface. This was done on Monday and the results are positive. We expect the IRP6 submission function to be activated sometime next week - just in time for the crunch part of the IRP6 filing season.

We have now commenced the installation and training of the new e-Filing interface for Taxpayer Registrations and IRP6 Requests.  On Tuesday, a firm in Stellenbosch queued 900 taxpayer registrations in 5 minutes and over 90% of these were successfully activated and available on the SARS web site the next morning.  Please contact your account manager to arrange for a consultant to assist with the implementation of the new interface.

I would like to extend our appreciation to the partners and tax compliance teams from Nolands, Pyper Turner, Mazars and ELB for their assistance and advice with the pilot testing phase for the new e-Filing interface.  Pyper Turner Inc. has also provided us with more comprehensive letter templates which will be available for download from our ftp site.

Please do not delay loading the latest version of e-Tax as it addresses all the issues and change requests from clients.  Our response centre teams have raised a concern that some firms are still using older versions of e-Tax.

We have now released build n04 with the following changes:
